Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is an office drone whose life is going nowhere. After his estranged father is murdered, Wesley meets Fox (Angelina Jolie), who recruits him into the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins who take their orders from Fate itself. Fox and Sloan (Morgan Freeman), the Fraternity's leader, teach Wesley to tap into his dormant powers. Though Wesley enjoys his newfound abilities, he begins to suspect that there is more to the Fraternity than meets the eye.

Wanted" engages and even wows throughout, thanks to its exceptional visuals and something far more rare in a summer blockbuster: a stellar lead performance.
James McAvoy ("Atonement") creates a sympathetic character in Wesley Gibson, an anxiety-ridden office drone turned determined assassin, and his performance compensates for the film's emptier moments.
Though often overshadowed by bigger stars appearing in the same films – Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland"; Keira Knightley in "Atonement"; and Angelina Jolie, a supporting player in "Wanted" who nonetheless dominates the movie's posters – McAvoy has proved himself the consummate film actor over the past few years. Only a true craftsman could fashion a full-fledged, relatable character in a hyper-stylized popcorn film like "Wanted."
