Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) is stuck in a rut with his negative ways. Then he goes to a self-help seminar and learns to unleash the power of yes. Living in the affirmative leads him to all sorts of amazing and transforming experiences; he gets a job promotion, and even finds a new romance. But Carl finds that too much of anything, even positive thinking, is not necessarily a good thing.

In honor of "Yes Man," in which Jim Carrey plays Carl, a guy who tries to turn his life around by saying "yes" to everything, this review will couch all observations in affirmative terms.
To start, Zooey Deschanel is delightful in the role of Carl's love interest, revealing a singing voice somehow raspy and velvety at once in scenes where her character, Allison, fronts her band, the diabolically named Munchausen by Proxy.
Rhys Darby (HBO's "Flight of the Conchords") is consistently funny as Carl's dorky boss at a savings and loan. It's not Darby's fault that most of the savings-and-loan scenes, presumably filmed before the recent financial crisis, seem dated. (Full review)
