Elvin Bishop
Blues

Oklahoma native and longtime Bay Area resident Elvin Bishop is known for his sense of humor, his unique style of slide guitar and fusion of blues, gospel, R&B and country flavors. On his Bishop's latest album, 2014's "Can't Even Do Wrong Right," the veteran guitarist - who first made people take notice when he joined the Paul Butterfield Blues Band in 1963 - fires on all cylinders. The album, which included five of his originals, was highlighted by vocals from Mickey Thomas on "Let Your Woman Have Your Way." This was the first time Thomas had recorded with Bishop since he sang the 1976 smash "Fooled Around and Fell in Love," before heading off to Jefferson Starship. That song was one of the tunes that saw new life in the mixtape/soundtrack of "Guardians of the Galaxy."
