Nominated Blues Music Awards 2018 Blues Guitarist of the Year. Blues Blast Magazine Annual Awards Committee has nominated Chris Cain as Male Blues Artist of the Year and his self-titled album, Chris Cain, as Best Contemporary Blues Album of the Year in their annual awards.
Cain’s debut recording, Late Night City Blues (Blue Rock’it Records-1987) garnered four W.C. Handy Blues Award nominations, including Guitarist of the Year. Dan Forte of Guitar Player wrote, “An impressive debut album by a top notch guitarist.”
Cain would also master piano, bass guitar, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone. The combination of his blues upbringing and his jazz studies melded to form the searing guitar style that sets Chris Cain apart and has moved him to the top ranks of the blues music scene. Chris Cain offers up a soulful stew of Memphis style electric blues. His powerfully deep vocals and jazz inspired, blues guitar riffs are unforgettable; uniquely his own, while reminiscent of the legendary BB King and Albert King.
And his multi-talented band members have played with a wide variety of great artists, including Etta James, Ronnie Montrose, Charlie Musselwhite, Pete Escovedo, Tommy Castro, and Tower of Power.
