Began studying martial arts as a child. Had an aunt who signed him up for talent shows, which led to a role in the off-Broadway play The Me Nobody Knew when he was 12 years old. Performed with a traveling puppet group called Struttin' Street Stuff. Had a job installing telephones beforeĀ making his feature film debutĀ in the 1986 Goldie Hawn movie Wildcats .
