Annual Antiques & Vintage Sale Dixon Mayfairgrounds
Twin Bridges’ popular 17th Annual Antiques & Vintage Sale indoors at the Dixon May Fair takes place Saturday, March 10th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Collectors attending the Dixon Antique Sale will discover a wide selection of quality merchandise from the Victorian period through the 1980's, offered by Western States exhibitors, including Western Americana, Folk Art and Native American art; American and European furniture and furnishings; art pottery & glassware; sterling silver and silverplate flatware and holloware; vintage and estate jewelry, watches, accessories and coins; tools, militaria and sporting; toys, dolls, linens and textiles; paper collectibles and repurposed, refurbished and upscaled. Part of the proceeds benefits charities supported by Soroptimist International of Dixon with almost $15,000 raised to date. Celebrity appraiser Steven Yvaska of San Jose, “The Antiques Adviser” invites collectors to bring their favorite family heirlooms or latest garage sale finds for verbal identification and evaluation for $5 per item from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Yvaska is available to assist collectors in pricing antiques for sale. Arrangements may also be made for private consultation including estate evaluation and written appraisals for insurance. A frequent guest speaker at Bay Area historical societies, museums, groups and antiques clubs, Mr. Yvaska has delivered programs about subjects as varied as American art pottery, glass, jewelry, holiday collectibles, ocean liner memorabilia, silver and postcards. He may be best-known for his columns on antiques for the San Jose Mercury News. His work is often reprinted in professional newsletters, journals and bulletins. Daily food and beverage service will be provided by volunteers from Soroptimist International of Dixon, co-chaired by Patti Crotzer and Dorothy Leudke. The Friends of the Dixon Library will once again hold a used book sale, chaired by Erma Hill. Girl Scout Troop 3458, Dixon, chaired by Veronica Gomez, will sell cookies and volunteer as event helpers throughout the two-day event and Dixon Sober Grad Night, chaired by Nancy Bei will hold a gift basket raffle. Admission to the Dixon May Fair show is $6 with free return and free parking both days. A $1 discount will be given per person with this article.
