2017 Bird Walks at Bridgeport
The South Yuba River Park Association will hold its 2017 bird walks at Bridgeport on the second Saturday of each month (except August and November). Expect to see wrentit, Nuttall's woodpecker, spotted towhees, black Phoebe, bald eagles and white-crowned sparrows. Meet at the park’s North Parking Lot (just past the South Yuba River-Pleasant Valley Road Bridge). Wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring binoculars.

34th Annual Sacramento Scandinavian Festival
For its 34th year, the annual Sacramento Scandinavian Festival will take place in a new location on a new date: Aug. 19 at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Sacramento. The festival features Scandinavian food, baked goods and merchandise for sale. Viking re-enactors will be present with interactive activities for the whole family. Gather information about the Nordic countries and enjoy music, entertainment and door prizes.

Ain't Necessarily Dead Fest - Celebrating Music and Vibes influenced by the Grateful Dead & Summer of Love
Celebrate Jerry Garcia's 75th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love at this free family festival, put on by the Auburn Recreation District. It will feature two stages of music featuring music in the spirit of, or influenced by, Garcia, the Grateful Dead and the Summer of Love: Stu Allen & Mars Hotel, Moonalice, Mojo Green, The Well Known Strangers, Shakey Zimmerman, Matt Rainey, Red Dirt Ruckus, Scott Guberman, Hardly Deadly and The Todd Gardner Band. There will also be an Auburn Brewers Beer Garden featuring craft beers from Auburn Ale House, Knee Deep, Moonraker and Crooked Lane; a huge food court; a Shakedown Street Craft Fair and a giant Kid Zone. No outside alcohol or glass allowed.
