2017 Bird Walks at Bridgeport
The South Yuba River Park Association will hold its 2017 bird walks at Bridgeport on the second Saturday of each month (except August and November). Expect to see wrentit, Nuttall's woodpecker, spotted towhees, black Phoebe, bald eagles and white-crowned sparrows. Meet at the park’s North Parking Lot (just past the South Yuba River-Pleasant Valley Road Bridge). Wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring binoculars.

2017 Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival
The Sacramento Asian Pacific Cultural Village presents the 2017 Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival at the Guild Theater on May 26-27, with a special encore presentation of Films of Remembrance at the California Museum, May 28th. This year’s theme is “Resist!,” featuring film and video projects that explore the Asian Pacific Islander immigrant, refugee and indigenous experience in America, and common struggles for justice and equality. Starting Friday evening, more than two dozen films will screen across three days and five separate showtimes, with a free film and panel discussion Saturday morning. Sunday’s expanded programming includes admission to the California Museum and coincides with the closing day of the exhibit “Kokoro: The Story of Sacramento’s Lost Japantown,” with films focusing on the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese-Americans during World War II.

California Focus provides a unique civic engagement educational experience where your student can experience California’s government in action by participating in the legislative, political, and judicial processes. California Focus combines hands-on participation in workshops, debates, simulations, tours and activities. California 4-H is also looking for parent volunteers who are interested in participating as chaperones.

6th Annual Dad's Day
Denio's Farmer Market will hold its annual Dad’s day, which will include a classic car show, music, craft beers, an open-air market and corn dogs. Display your 1975 or older classic car (or hot rod) and receive refreshments and a swag bag (awarded to the first 100 cars). Set-up begins at 8 am and cars must be on-site by 9. No registration fee for car show entrants.

Join the Yolo Basin Foundation for a summertime Bat Talk and Walk event and learn all about these amazing and beneficial mammals and meet live bats. Following a 45-minute indoor presentation on bat natural history and meeting the bats, the group will carpool out to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area to watch the “flyout” of the largest colony of Mexican free-tailed bats in California.
