1st TIKIM Filipino Food Fun Run
Filipino Food Takes Centerstage at 1st TIKIM Filipino Food Fun Run for the Family on Mother’s Day; Event to Help Feed Children in the Philippines. The purpose of TIKIM (which means, “to taste”) is to celebrate on Mother’s Day everything about family, fitness, fun and Filipino food flavors. Open to all ages, gender and races, ABS-CBN TFC wants to bring to the San Francisco Bay Area the excitement that Filipino cuisine – traditional or fusion - is generating the world over. With Filipino taste stations at every kilometer of this 5k fun run and a food festival and entertainment past the finish line, there is a lot to savor for every member of the family. But a very important thing is that by registering and joining the fun run, each participant would have provided meals for 10 malnourished children in the Philippines. Every month, ABS-CBN Foundation International’s Bantay Bata (Child Watch) program feeds 300 children with one nutritious meal a day during school time. By the end of the 4-month program within a school year, the Foundation makes sure that the nutritional requirements of these children are met.

After School Program at Soil Born Farms
This will be an opportunity for young women ages 13-18 to engage with the outdoor world and deepen their connection to themselves, their environment, their health, and each other. The program will build community and support teens in healthy transitions toward adulthood. Through interactions with the land, we aim to empower young women to build inner strength and confidence, as well as learn valuable leadership and life skills. Activities will include: gardening • cooking and eating together • health and nutrition • medicinal, edible and traditional uses of plants • wild crafted art • exploring the American River Parkway. The program will be flexible and adapted to meet the interests and passions of the group. Held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, September 13 to June 13, 2018 from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Sutter Health and the Placer Breast Cancer Foundation are proud to bring this Retreat to the women in our community! Our “give back” to women, this one-day event will offer an action-packed day of fun and interactive lifestyle and health workshops, brunch and giveaways. The day focuses on women’s health and will assess a woman’s ability to “do-it-all,” while balancing work, family, health and overall wellness. Keynote speaker, Dr. Felicia Haecker, is a veteran and philanthropist who is known for empowering women by helping them identify their passions and goals, all while managing a full life “without losing your mind.” Guests will also hear from Dr. Kristie Bobolis, a Sutter medical oncologist with a special interest in breast cancer and the full spectrum of women’s health. Attendees will also be able to visit vendor booths, participate in some “hands-on” activities, and learn more about how to refine their personal style!
