This 8-week award-winning program can help participants to view falls and fear of falling as controllable; set realistic goals for increasing activity; change their environment to reduce fall risk factors; and promote exercise to increase strength and balance. This intensive, 4-week workshop, taught by a nationally certified fitness professional with great knowledge of female biomechanics during and after pregnancy, aims to alleviate back pain, strengthen your core muscles and heal diastasis recti. Dirt, Sweat & Beers Mountain Bike & Sprint Triathlon
Show the world what you’re made of at the Eagal Lake Resort’s fourth annual Dirt, Sweat and Beer Mountain Bike & Sprint Triathlon, benefiting the Semper Fi Fund and United Way of San Joaquin. This event is open to all levels, and you can compete as an individual or join as a group. The race includes with a 400-meter swim in the resort’s private lake, an 11-mile ride traversing the river levee, and a 3.1-mile run on a tree-lined trail along the San Joaquin River with varying terrain and habitat. All participants will receive an official DSB performance shirt, a finishers medal and one free beer (must be over 21). In addition, award medals will be given to the first-, second- and third-place finishers, both male and female, in all decades, and overall first-place male and female finisher.

Family Herbalist Beginners Program
Learn the basics of Western herbology while integrating it with the systems of Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine. This six-month course will include medicine-making, plant ID, how to treat acute ailments, use of tonic herbs and food for strengthening vitality, and how to harvest local herbs for medicine. You’ll learn about your own constitutional needs and ways to balance yourself for better health and well-being. The program will include herb walks around the farm and the American River. There will be lots of tasting, smelling and hands-on experience with herbs. Topics include Introduction to Herbal Medicine and Your Ayurvedic Constitution; Making Herbal Medicine and Identifying Plants in the Garden and Wild Places; Continuing our Integration of Western Herbology and Ayurveda; Herbs and Food for Good Digestion; Herbs for Calming and Strengthening the Nerves; and Tonic Herbs for Rejuvenation and Rebuilding of Vitality. All classes will take place at Soil Born Farms except for the June 10 session, which will be held at Evergreen Herb Garden, outside of Placerville.

Come to the library for a free yoga lesson and experience its grounding, calming effects, while increasing your strength, flexibility and balance. All skill levels, beginner to advanced, are welcome. Please wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat. Instructor Joan Howell has been teaching yoga for 20 years.
