4th Annual Stanislaus County Caregiver Resource Fair
The fair will feature a free continental breakfast, community vendors, health screenings, opportunity prizes, and education seminars including 3 speakers, all free of charge. Presentation Topics include Estate Planning & Advanced Health Care Directives/POLST at 8:30am, Self-Care for Caregivers at 9:50am, and Understanding Alzheimers and Other Dementias at 11:00am. The purpose is to provide resources and support to reduce the stresses that can overwhelm caregivers.

This is a 5 kilometer (k) walk/run to raise funds and awareness to increase lung cancer survival. You can walk, run or jog this 5K walk/run. Participate as an individual or bring your friends and family and be part of the team. We believe, with your help, we will transform lung cancer survivorship! GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer Walk/Run events raise much-needed funds for innovative research, life-saving patient services and federal advocacy, which will change the future of lung cancer. After-School Teen Empowerment Program
After-School Teen Empowerment Program. Building Confidence, Valuable Leadership Skills for Young Women Our Roots & Wings after-school program offers an opportunity for young women ages 13 to 18 to deepen their connection to the environment, themselves and each other. Through gardening, cooking and eating together, working with medicinal herbs and plants, doing art and exploring the natural world, we will teach valuable life skills while building a supportive community. Through our interactions with the land, we aim to empower young women to build inner strength and confidence as well as learn valuable leadership skills. The program will be flexible and adapted to meet the interests and passions of the group. Held on the Second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the American River Ranch. There are two sessions with four gatherings each. Session A: Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, 2019 and Jan. 8, 2020. Session B: Feb. 12, Mar. 11, Apr. 8 and May 13, 2020. Price for Session A Or B: $60. Fidget Blanket workshop at North Natomas Library
Join us for “Healthy Living for your Brain and Body,” presented by the Alzheimer's Association. You'll learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, and social engagement to create a plan for healthy aging. After the presentation, participants will create a lap-size fidget blanket using supplies provided by the Sacramento Public Library, including sewing machines, fabric, and “fidget items” (zippers, buttons, clips, etc). Though the design and construction is up to you, a sewing instructor will be on-site to provide assistance. Fidget blankets may be taken home to give to a loved one or donated to a local memory care facility. Experience with basic sewing techniques is preferred, but not required.
