A Matter of Balance can help reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falling. This 8-week award-winning program can help participants to view falls and fear of falling as controllable; set realistic goals for increasing activity; change their environment to reduce fall risk factors; and promote exercise to increase strength and balance. Pre-registration required. Limit 10 students.

After School Program at Soil Born Farms
This will be an opportunity for young women ages 13-18 to engage with the outdoor world and deepen their connection to themselves, their environment, their health, and each other. The program will build community and support teens in healthy transitions toward adulthood. Through interactions with the land, we aim to empower young women to build inner strength and confidence, as well as learn valuable leadership and life skills. Activities will include: gardening • cooking and eating together • health and nutrition • medicinal, edible and traditional uses of plants • wild crafted art • exploring the American River Parkway. The program will be flexible and adapted to meet the interests and passions of the group. Held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, September 13 to June 13, 2018 from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Family Herbalist Course Beginners Program
Join Candis Cantin and her team to learn the basics of Western Herbology and how to integrate it with Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese medicine. This six-month course will include medicine-making, plant ID, how to treat acute ailments, use of tonic herbs and food for strengthening vitality, as well as how to harvest local herbs for medicine.
