2019 Champions of Mental Health Awards Dinner
On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Mental Health California will present a charitable evening of recognition of achievements in mental health and wellness among industry leadership in California. 2019 honorees include: Theopia Jackson, Ph.D., President, The Association of Black Psychologists, Inc., (Cultural Practitioner Award); the California Consortium for Urban Indian Health (Advocacy Leadership Award); and Senator Jim Beall, California's 15th Senate District (Legislator of the Year Award). Three hundred (300) guests will convene to enjoy real stories of hope and resilience, plus great food and dessert, guest speakers, complimentary wine by Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, exceptional networking, and excellent entertainment throughout. The event features an excellent line-up of guest speakers including Galen Duncan, Ph.D., Vice President, Kings Academy and Professional Development, Sacramento Kings; Eileen Kim, Miss California 2019; Dr. Dennis Godby, BS, MA, ND, Founder, Sacramento Naturopathic Medical Center; Lakshmi Malroutu, Ph.D., Chief Operations Officer, Asian Pacific Community Counseling; and Ms. Lishia Jackson, Counselor, Folsom Lake College and Consumer Representative, Stop Stigma Sacramento. Guests will be thrilled by outstanding entertainers including a special performance by LB Crew, a dynamic pop-soul/R&B singer known to millions on NBC’s hit show “The Voice” (Season 16 Blind Auditions). His powerful voice embodies passion and conviction, “creating magic” for audiences including music industry veterans Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine. LB brings rich, soulful vocals to the music industry as a performer, producer, and bandleader. The lineup also includes Missy Robertson from the 12th season of NBC’s “The Voice”. Her emotional delivery of popular and original songs are known worldwide, showcasing her church roots all the way to modern soulful musical influences. Music will be performed by the Harley White, Jr. Quartet.

After-School Teen Empowerment Program
After-School Teen Empowerment Program. Building Confidence, Valuable Leadership Skills for Young Women Our Roots & Wings after-school program offers an opportunity for young women ages 13 to 18 to deepen their connection to the environment, themselves and each other. Through gardening, cooking and eating together, working with medicinal herbs and plants, doing art and exploring the natural world, we will teach valuable life skills while building a supportive community. Through our interactions with the land, we aim to empower young women to build inner strength and confidence as well as learn valuable leadership skills. The program will be flexible and adapted to meet the interests and passions of the group. Held on the Second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the American River Ranch. There are two sessions with four gatherings each. Session A: Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, 2019 and Jan. 8, 2020. Session B: Feb. 12, Mar. 11, Apr. 8 and May 13, 2020. Price for Session A Or B: $60. Polar Run & Dunk 2020
Start your resolution early. Join us for the 8th Annual Polar Bear Run & Dunk Saturday, January 4th! Run along the beautiful San Joaquin River, through natural habitat and around Bass Lake. All participants can choose to stay dry or for the most daring, choose to take the Polar Bear dunk into the frigid waters of Eagal Lakes. Not a runner... that's OK.. Walkers welcome to join the fun. For those that want to start 2020 off with a bang choose the Dunk Only. Dunkers bring your "A" game for a shot at prizes. All participants will receive a race number, raffle ticket, finishers medal and a hot drink. This is a FUN RUN and will not be timed. There will be a timing clock on display for you to check your time at the finish line. After the run and dunk we'll have warm changing rooms and a bonfire. Hot food and cocktails will also be available for purchase in the Bar and Bistro. Post race celebration with raffle prizes.
