CA Stronger Communities: LGBTQ Suicide Prevention Conference
This full-day conference is sponsored by the Greater Sacramento chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.The goal is to raise awareness about LGBTQ suicide risk, bring research findings to the attention of professionals and the public, and explore strategies for LGBTQ suicide prevention in local communities. The agenda includes plenary and breakout sessions that feature national and local experts on LGBTQ mental health and suicide risk and will be focused on making mental health, suicide prevention, and education an LGBTQ community priority. Pending approval, the following CE credits will be available for licensed clinicians. National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) – 5 hours National Association of Social Workers (NASW) – 5 hours

Garden and art activities can help children manage their big feelings and fears. In this class, adults will learn how to teach children that the garden is a safe and welcoming place where they can leave their stress behind. You will learn to teach resiliency skills, stress management skills, and self-soothing techniques that empower children and help them express themselves. Great American Hero Trail Run
Choose a Half Marathon, 5k or -mile Family Trail Run along the San Joaquin River through varying terrain including scenic farmland, levee roads, groomed trails, hills, sand and gravel. Each participant will get a recovery meal, finishers medal, and entry into the raffle. Official timing for Half Marathon and 5k only. Ribbons will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male/female overall. Moms, Dads, kids ages 3 & up and the rest of the family join us for a 1-mile run/walk around beautiful Eagal Lakes Resort. All participants will get a finishers medal, recovery meal and entry in to our raffle. Spectators can purchase tickets for a meal at check-in/registration on the day of the event. Event benefits high school running programs like the Discovery Challenge Academy Run Club.

Movement Mondays Class: Tone Your ECS
Start the week off right with a movement class with our beloved budtender John. Movement Monday classes at Emerald Pharms are a fusion of strength and technique training, mixed with fun movement and flexibility building. The class begins with a light warm up to get the blood moving. Then we'll flow into some movement phrases for some light and fun exercise. The class will wind down with a nice, warm deep stretch. Bring yourself, a blanket/towel/yoga mat, movable clothing, water, and an open mind. Please RSVP via email.

Sacramento Near-Death Experience Support Group
A new monthly near-death experience (NDE) support group, a local chapter of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS.org), will begin in Sacramento on October 1, 2018, 7pm - 9pm, at 2820 R Street, Sacramento, CA 95816, located at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op's Cooking School & Community Learning Center. Admission is free and open to the public; but space is limited. The first 20 people will personally receive from Kevin Williams, webmaster of www.near-death.com and Sacramento resident, a free signed copy of his NDE book entitled "Nothing Better Than Death." So be sure to reserve your seat soon by contacting Sacramento IANDS Group Leader Michelle Kuret through the Sacramento NDE website at www.SacramentoNDE.com. Sacramento IANDS will provide regular guest NDE speakers, many of whom are internationally well known. Our first speaker will be Barbara Bartolome, founder of the Santa Barbara IANDS chapter. Barbara has had, not one, but two NDEs. Her second NDE was in 1987 during a medical procedure after which she surprised the medical staff by accurately recounting each of their actions and conversations she witnessed while outside and above her physical body. The International Association for Near-Death Studies is an educational nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide the most reliable source of information in the field of near-death studies, and to serve as a common forum and community for experiencers and interested people of all walks of life, religions, and cultures. It is the only group of its kind in the world.
