My Fair Lady

In all honesty, I must disclose my relationship with one of the lead actors, Ron Baker, who plays Alfred Dolittle. Ron is my younger brother, but I feel I can objectively rate his performance. What is truly astonishing about this organization is their ability to discover untapped talent, which Sacramento seems to harbor in abundance. Though the cast is not paid for performing, it does not appear to affect the quality of their labor. My Fair Lady is adapted from the play "Pygmalion", written by Bernard Shaw. This musical version is carried well by a disparate group of dedicated, talented people who effortlessly project fine characterizations, vocal harmonies, and perform intricate choreographies. How they were able to present so difficult a production after the short amount of time they were allotted to rehearse is a measure of their dedication to the arts. Ron's debut as the drunken, nefarious father of the play's heroine, Eliza Dolittle, impressed me beyond words (Believe me, it takes a lot to impress me, even NOT beyond words..)Stage acting has an element of intimacy which is lacking in any other form of entertainment. However, the performance is LIVE, in front of people who shell out a significant amount of cash to watch the production, as I have done. What more can I say after saying I will insure everyone who attends the Magic Circle Theatre's presentation of "My Fair Lady" will enjoy what they see, and that it will be well worth every penny.
