Cherilyn Naughton: Almost Toast

Axis Gallery is pleased to present the solo show, “Almost Toast” by artist Cherilyn Naughton in July 2012. In her visual and audio media installation, Naughton addresses the state of the union (USA), our health, and the welfare of the planet.

Taking a hard look around, Naughton asks: Where are we going - and what is it that we’re actually doing here? We are constantly bombarded with programming that passes for "news," distracted by a million gadgets that both pull us into a broader world focus… Show more and cut us off from being fully awake and present in our own experience. The planet has been turned into one giant commodity, our constitution stripped of its power by a corporatized USA. Is this really what we want to leave our children?
