Two-time Grammy Award Winner Native American Flutist Mary Youngblood Honors Women Veterans in Concert

Mary Youngblood partners with DVIC Changing Lives Wellness Center of the greater Sacramento region to honor Women Veterans with a healing concert and free healing serivces.
Native American Mary Youngblood, half Seminole and half Aleut, is the first woman to professionally record the Native American Flute, and the first woman to receive two Grammy Awards for "Best Native American Music Album". In addition Mary she was the first woman to win 'Flutist of the Year' in both 1999 and 2000. She won 'Best… Show more Female Artist' in 2000 at the Native American Music Awards (NAMMYS). Her music is a healing prayer that she sends up for humanity.
As part of this special event,Julia Kelly, Mitchelene Big Man, and Sarah Baker who make up the first all-women Native American Military Color Guard will open the evening by posting colors. In addition, Native veteran and advocate for women vets Eli Painted Crow (Retired, US Army) and co-founder of Turtle Women Rising, the ceremonial drumming collective, will join us as part of their honoring returning warriors and inviting them back into community, embracing them and their families with open arms, and providing a place to begin the healing process of calling their spirits back from the journeys they have undertaken.
