Crocker Cafe

Our luncheon at the Crocker Cafe full-service section was a disappointment. We'd been to the self-serve section on past visits to the museum and had well prepared and tasty sandwiches. This time we thought we'd go all out; it was a mistake! Maybe it was the cook's day off? Maybe the server was overworked? However, my wife ordered the Signature Trio Salad, at $14.00. Two of her three salad choices were tasty, one was not and she only had a bite. My Teal Burger at $13.95 looked delicious when it arrived, but the lower bun was soggy with meat juice, the bacon strips were cold, the grass fed beef was just warm, the lettuce was limp, the tomato was a mush. I used knife and fork and ate the beef patty. I left the rest. The match-stick french fries, house prepared, were cool to the touch and not enjoyable. I left most of them. Topping off our disappointment the cafe has a mandatory 20% service charge in the sit-down section like it or not, so beware, and the bill will still ask for a tip if you use a credit card!
The Crocker Art Museum is excellent, the Crocker Cafe looks nice and is busy, but I recommend staying away from the full-service cafe section. Avoid possible disappointment!
